These journals, address books, are sketchbooks are hand-made in the Pacific Northwest using recycled 100% recycled paper and used and new old stock (NOS) floppy disks.   Because I use floppy disks from the 1970s and 1980s, the color and texture of the disks will vary.

Meeting our Eco Standards

Materials: 

The recycled or reclaimed content of these floppy disk booklets ranges from 92% to 98% depending the type of booklet.  

 

Transportation: 

  • Over 80% percent of the materials by weight are obtained within the region of the Green Wisdom production facility (within 1,000 miles).  
  • Bicycle and mass transit are used to transport materials, supplies, components, and final product within 10 miles of production facility.  
  • Products are drop shipped from production facility in the state of Washington (either UPS or USPS) directly to retail outlets.  

 

Packaging:

Product Packaging: No product packaging is used.  

Shipping materials: At least 50% of the boxes, bubble wrap, and other materials used in shipping is reclaimed.  

 

Nontoxic

Green Wisdom uses Citrus oil and 20% Naptha to clean the disks.   Both ingredients are considered to be of no or low toxicity by Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and other independent experts and a vast improvement over earlier chlorinated solvents.  If concentrations are kept low through proper ventilation, the solvent is generally considered safe to use in industrial and commercial applications.  Since Citrus oil and Naptha are volatile solvents, no discernable residue is left on the floppy disks to come into contact with consumers.  

NOS toner is used for printing on the inside pages.  Since NOS is used, no new chemical or petroleum resources are used to provide Green Wisdom with toner.  Also, the toner is considered non-hazardous by OSHA.
